The OSU Department of Animal and Food Sciences offers two majors (animal science and food science) and 12 study options. We have an excellent reputation for advisement and mentoring by faculty. We also have the largest departmental scholarship offering at OSU (with more than $400,000 awarded each year) and more national judging championships than any other university.


Our department is committed to the advancement of biosciences through both basic and applied research. Our faculty, staff and students conduct cutting-edge research projects in multiple animal science and food science disciplines. Our researchers publish their work in high-impact, scientific journals and they have been recognized for their outstanding achievements.


Through the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service, our county educators and area, district and state specialists develop science-based educational programs to help Oklahomans solve local issues and concerns, promote leadership and manage resources wisely. Our Extension and outreach programs connect producers and consumers with current research.
