Graduate Student Scholarships

  • Afanasiev Distinguished Graduate Fellowship

    Any graduate student pursuing a degree in Natural Resource Ecology and Management, with the Forest Resources option may be eligible for this fellowship.

    • Deadline: Contact the Graduate Coordinator, Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management for additional information.
    • Type of award: Cash scholarship. Pays in fall & spring terms only.
    • How to apply: Application for admission to a graduate program in the Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management
    • Application deadline: March 15.
    • Financial need requires: No.
    • Renewal criteria: Satisfactory progress in degree program.

  • Buck & C.A. Aldrich Endowed Fellowship
    This scholarship was established in 2013 by Carla Aldrich in memory of her parents, Buck and Catherine Ann, who both attended Oklahoma A&M. This scholarship recognizes scholarship, research, outreach, and/or leadership by an MS or PhD student in the Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management. The recipient should be engaged in the study of wildlife management and conservation, game management, or invasive species and their applications to agriculture. For consideration, students should prepare a 1-page cover letter that makes the case for outstanding achievement in research, scholarship, outreach, and/or leadership. Be sure to identify your Faculty Advisor, funding source, and whether you are pursuing an MS or PhD. The applicant must also submit a résumé or curriculum vitae.
  • Dr. Jim and Teresa Ansley Endowed Student Scholarship Fund
    The recipient must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student at the University, pursuing a graduate degree in the Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management within the Ferguson College of Agriculture. Selection preference will be given to students with documented financial need.
  • Fisheries Scholarship

    Developed to fund a scholarship for a graduate student in Fisheries and Aquatic Ecology.

  • Jesse Burton Memorial Graduate Student Scholarship
    Established in 2019 by Jesse's family and NREM faculty and staff to honor the memory of Jesse Burton, who graduated with an M.S. degree in the NREM department. Recipients of the Scholarship will be selected by a committee appointed for such purpose by the Head of the Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management, or his/her designee. The recipient must be enrolled as a fulltime M.S. or PhD graduate student in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, pursuing a degree in the Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management. The size of the award and number of awards may be determined at the discretion of the Selection Committee.
  • Sally Jo Bible Scholarship

    Awarded to graduate students in Forestry, Wildlife Ecology and Management, or Fisheries and Aquatic Ecology.

  • Vandiver L. (Buster) Childs Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund
    This scholarship, in honor of Vandiver L. (Buster) Childs, a graduate of the OSU forestry program in the late 1950’s, is available to a full-time graduate student in the Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management who is pursuing either a master’s degree or Ph.D. in forest-related studies. Selection preference will be given to graduate students who are conducting research in the topic area of forest wildlife. The award is renewable for a period of three years with maintenance of the selection criteria. If no students are available in forest wildlife, then the award will be made to a student in forest-related studies. The award will be given to no more than one recipient each year.
