One-Health: Pre-vet and Pre-med Options

Course Learning Outcomes

This study abroad course will provide the context for students to understand the One-Health approach through preparatory meetings, readings and student interactions; hands-on clinics in rural communities and technical and cultural-related learning tours during the travel component of the course; and critical verbal, written and visual reflections.

 

Course Highlights

  • Choose from two interest areas for this study abroad course: 1) Pre-veterinary or 2) Pre-medicine

  • Tour animal and human medical facilities

  • Get hands-on experience in rural clinics

  • Work side by side with local students and professionals

  • Visit a handcrafts market and the beach

Participation in hands-on activities will depend on local conditions.

Program fee (includes accommodations, most meals and OSU health and safety insurance) $2,000
Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) insurance ($81**) and OSU study abroad admin fee ($200*) $281
Personal expenses and incidentals (May vary by student preference) $200
Airfare is included in program fee  

*Not protected by CFAR insurance. Same rate for in-state and out-of-state students.

**CFAR insurance protects the study abroad program fee and is non-refundable. Reimbursement rates vary by situation. Contact course instructor if you have additional questions.

 

Course Enrollment Options

  • AG 3803 International Study Tour in Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources: One Health (3 credit hours with I designation*)

*Undergraduate students at Oklahoma State University are required to take a class that carries an I designation for graduation purposes
