Course Learning Outcomes

This course will provide an immersive experience into the rich history, agricultural diversity, geography, architecture, arts, cuisine, religion, politics, economics, and cultural traditions of Morocco.

  • Tour Diverse Agricultural Enterprises: Learn firsthand about Morocco’s diverse agricultural practices by visiting a variety of farms, from olive groves and vineyards to wheat fields and traditional argan oil cooperatives and see how agriculture shapes the local economy and culture.
  • Discover Ancient History and Architecture: Visit the stunning Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its iconic mud-brick architecture and its role as a backdrop in many famous films.
  • Experience the Beauty of the Sahara Desert: Embark on a camel trek through the Sahara Desert, spend a night under the stars in a Berber camp, and witness breathtaking sunrises over the dunes.
  • Engage with Moroccan Culture and Cuisine: Participate in traditional Moroccan cooking classes, savoring authentic dishes like tagine and couscous, and enjoy cultural exchanges with local families, enhancing your understanding of Moroccan hospitality and way of life.
  • Explore the Vibrant Markets: Immerse yourself in the bustling souks of Marrakech and Fes, where you can shop for traditional crafts, taste exotic spices, and experience the energy of Moroccan street life.

Course Enrollment Options

    • AG 3803 Study Abroad Course in Agriculture and Natural Resources in Morocco (I) (3 credit hours with I designation*)
    • PLNT 5110 Special Study in Plant Sciences – Study Abroad Course in Morocco  (3 credit hours, graduate level)

*Undergraduate students at Oklahoma State University are required to take a class that carries an I designation for graduation purposes.
