Undergraduate Entomology Program
About the Program
The Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology is a small student-centered department.
Because we are a small, close-knit group, students can expect to receive important
individualized attention, greater access to scholarship funds and a wide range of
opportunities for internships, and one-on-one research experiences with a faculty
mentor. And, an entomology degree is highly marketable in today's job market.
OSU is one of only 16 universities in the nation with an entomology program and has
the second largest enrollment.
Entomology students have access to Insect Adventure, one of the largest interactive
live arthropod exhibits in the country. You will have the opportunity to work at Insect
Adventure on public engagement or with faculty-guided research projects in forensics,
medical/veterinary sciences, molecular, ecology, conservation, stored products and
applied agriculture.
Incoming entomology students may receive a scholarship from the department. Based
on academic progress and GPA, the scholarship renews each semester.

Entomology
To earn a minor in Entomology, students must take 15 credit hours of entomology courses including:
- ENTO 2993, plus one of these classes: ENTO 3044, 4223, 4464, or 4733.
- An additional 8-9 credit hours to achieve the 15 minimum credits from any courses with an ENTO prefix.
