The wildlife chairs at Oklahoma State University represent the Bollenbach chairs and the Groendyke chair in wildlife management and are supported by the Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

The endowed Bollenbach chairs in wildlife management are named in honor of Irvin Bollenbach, Kingfisher Oklahoma rancher and long-time leader in wildlife management and conservation in Oklahoma. The endowed Groendyke chair in wildlife management is named in honor of John Groendyke, who has served on the Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Commission since 1976.

Chairs

The wildlife chairs at Oklahoma State University consists of two Bollenbach Chairs in Wildlife Biology, and one Groendyke Chair in Wildlife Conservation. All three wildlife chairs are supported by the Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

Bollenbach Chair in Wildlife Management

Irvin Bollenbach was a civic leader from Kingfisher, Oklahoma who was devoted to wildlife management, conservation and preservation. In 1992 a fundraising campaign was launched to raise $500,000 in private donations for the establishment of the Bollenbach Chair in Wildlife Management in his honor. Irvin passed away in 1997, but this chair carries on his passion for wildlife management and conservation. If you have a passion for wildlife management, conservation or preservation, make your gift to support the Bollenbach Chair.

Projects

Research is an important aspect of the Land Grant Mission and for the wildlife chairs at Oklahoma State University. We seek to better understand natural resources through rigorous, objective, investigations. Our research is primarily carried out by graduate students, with the help of technicians, under the supervision of the wildlife chairs at Oklahoma State University. Research is intended to be applied in nature so that the results have impact on the people of Oklahoma and beyond. The results of our research are conveyed to the public through the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service though outlets such as fact sheets, field days, web sites, landowner visits.

We believe it is critical for research results to be properly disseminated through both peer reviewed research journals and through the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service so that the public has access to objective applied research findings.
