STILLWATER, Okla. – The Oklahoma State University Department of Agricultural Education, Communications and Leadership hosted the 2021 Ag Teacher In-Service Workshops on the Stillwater campus July 12-14.
The workshops are designed to give Oklahoma agricultural education instructors hands-on experiences working with new ideas and concepts related to agricultural education courses and chapter management. The various professional development workshops are taught by OSU personnel who are experienced in their designated fields, and they provide strategies that cut through the noise and provide tangible tips that can be implemented immediately.
“The AECL workshops were very informative and well done,” said Jay Muret, Moorland Public School agricultural education adviser. “They offered a wide variety of topics for every attendee. I have a new greenhouse, and it’s been years since I’ve managed one. So the greenhouse management workshop taught me a lot, and I left feeling more prepared.”
Topics for the workshops included: small ag mech projects; greenhouse maintenance; chapter social media usage; preparing national chapter awards; preparing an agricultural issues forum LDE team; teacher share, and interactive agricultural experience tracker tips; and cooperating teacher workshop for chapters that host student teachers.
The OSU Department of Agricultural Education, Communications and Leadership in the Ferguson College of Agriculture is dedicated to developing well-rounded agricultural professionals, educators, communicators, and leaders through academic, research and extension, and outreach efforts.
