Get to Know Mary Kate!

 

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

"For nearly 14 years, I’ve been tackling the world of communications, spending a decade on the corporate side of the court. From graphic design, marketing, and public relations to crisis communication and event coordination, to even being classified as a first responder in the wake of a hurricane(s), a wild ride is an understatement.

Now the owner of a creative agency, my focus is helping other businesses and organizations shine. I’m also sharing those life lessons with future communicators as an instructor at Texas A&M University.

Kate & Co. Creative, LLC is a boutique creative agency headquartered in Livingston, Texas, specializing in creative strategy, design, and photography. Electric cooperatives are our jam, but we’ve worked with clients across all industries, including agriculture, real estate, furniture retail, and even individual clients.

In 2020, I launched a sister company, The Blushing Saguaro Trading Company—an online boutique of uniquely curated home décor collections as well as a natural host and meeting place for ever-growing interior design projects.

 

A native of southeastern Arizona, I am a proud graduate of Oklahoma State University. Nowadays, I am married to a local small-town celebrity and spend my days chasing kids and chickens on our little piece of rural East Texas."

 

What is your favorite part of your job?

"I love being able to step in and help my clients either launch a new business or elevate an established company's success. It's a proud moment when I see my clients thriving and accomplishing their goals and dreams."

 

How has your agricultural education Ph.D. served you in your career?

"Communications is a complex field. Thankfully, our degree path at OSU exposed us to and trained us for various disciples within the realm of communications. I've been equipped with the skills to tackle any project thrown my way throughout my career, and if I didn't, I knew how to develop a missing skillset further, or call on a colleague for guidance."
