About the Program

Microbes are everywhere!  Did you know there are 6 pounds of microbes in and on your body?  But wait….Cattle, Wheat, and the Burying Beetle also depend upon microbes.  Are you interested in learning about the role these and other microbes play in our environment?  Then the Agriculture Microbiome Program (AMP) may be for you!
The Agriculture Microbiome Program (AMP) will introduce ninth and tenth grade students and STEM teachers to the microbiome sciences that promise to improve agricultural productivity and reduce the environmental impact of agriculture.  This program will introduce students and teachers to the microbial world around them, through a variety of interactive virtual modules and a week-long hands-on summer camp on the Oklahoma State University, Stillwater Campus.  Students will develop laboratory and presentation skills to share what they learned with their communities.
