Research in biosystems and agricultural engineering integrates life and agricultural sciences with engineering design principles to solve problems related to grand challenges for engineering and UN Sustainability Goals, including access to clean water, carbon sequestration, sustainable land management, climate resilience, circular bioeconomy systems, and health.  Our faculty and research personnel conduct novel research in several different areas: water resources and environmental engineering, machine systems and robotics, food engineering, bioprocessing and nanotechnology, and rural health and safety. 
 
 

Technical Research Areas

We actively seek and secure funding to support basic and applied research that has positive impacts on how we nourish and power the world, serve as good stewards of our environment and natural resources, and develop new approaches to improving human and animal health. We are passionate in our quest to discover new knowledge, develop innovative engineering solutions, and advance access new technologies and intellectual property that support resiliency, sustainability, workforce development, and economic growth
