Course Learning Outcomes

Learn more about food and sustainability through hands-on experiences in Costa Rica's coffee, fruit, dairy, sugar and meat industries. Students will also gain new perspectives by being exposed to the history, culture, economy and current issues of Costa Rica and Central America.

 

 

Course Highlights

  • Explore the Poás Volcano, La Paz Waterfall Gardens, Manuel Antonio National Park and more!
  • Visit local farms and plantations, participate in a milking and cheese making experience and volunteer at an organic coffee farm.
  • Learn about food and sustainability efforts in Costa Rica and Central America.

Course Enrollment Options

  • AG 3803 International Study Tour in Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources: Food and Sustainable Agriculture in Costa Rica (3 credit hours with I designation*)

  • FDSC 5120 Special Topics in Food Science: Food and Sustainable Agriculture in Costa Rica (3 credit hours, graduate level)

 

*Undergraduate students at Oklahoma State University are required to take a class that carries an I designation for graduation purposes.
