Omkar Joshi and Sergio Abit Assume New Leadership Appointments in the Ferguson College

We are proud to announce two new leadership appointments that will help advance academic excellence and student engagement across the Ferguson College of Agriculture.
Sergio Abit has been appointed the director of undergraduate research and honors. A long-standing advocate for undergraduate research, Abit brings a passion for student development and a history of coordinating impactful research and internship opportunities in the OSU Department of Plant and Soil Sciences. In his new role, he will engage with freshman research scholars through theOSU Henry Bellmon Office of Scholar Development and Undergraduate Research, connect students with faculty mentors through the OSU Agricultural Experiment Station and Ferguson College Undergraduate Research Program, and promote research opportunities to current and prospective students. Additionally, he will represent the college on the OSU Honors Council and guide honors students by teaching the honors thesis preparation course and facilitating honors thesis research connections.
Omkar Joshi has been named the director of academic assessment. In this role, Joshi will collaborate with outcome assessment coordinators across the college, providing critical guidance and support to ensure all Ferguson College programs meet university accreditation standards. With a foundation in program assessment through his work in the OSU Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management forestry program’s accreditation by the Society of American Foresters, Joshi is well-positioned to lead our collegewide efforts. His expertise will be instrumental in helping us measure student learning outcomes and identify ways to continually enhance the educational experience for all Ferguson College students.
