Caleb Watkins

graduate student Caleb Watkins

I am a first-year graduate student in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department. I am working under the guidance of Dr. Charles Chen and Dr. Donald Ruhl. My research emphasis is on epigenomic regulation and modification, currently focused on wheat plants that undergo drought-simulated environmental stress. I have been applying knowledge learned from Biochemistry and Molecular Biology graduate courses to my research in biochemistry. Currently I am a teaching assistant for Survey of Biochemistry and am happy to help answer any questions I can. Having the opportunity to do research at Oklahoma State University allows me to further develop my laboratory skills and keep up to date on advances in this field, along with honing my skill set for future research opportunities and teaching future students in academia. Outside of research and teaching, I love cooking, baking, and spending time with my best friend and wife, Liz. I also enjoy playing ttrpg's with friends, hiking weightlifting, and travelling.
