From FFA to Ferguson College

Meet these former FFA members from across the nation

who found their home at OSU.

Sawyer Beggs
Sims, Arkansas

FFA provided Sawyer Beggs with the opportunity to participate in various activities, including public speaking and talent shows, which helped him develop his leadership skills. He first connected with OSU at the National FFA Convention, where Ferguson College Ambassadors made him feel at home. Now double-majoring in agricultural communications and agricultural leadership, Sawyer is thankful for the support from the Ferguson College as he prepares for his future.

Davin Budy
Cherokee, Oklahoma

From showing swine to competing in public speaking, agriscience and food science contests, Davin Budy took every opportunity FFA offered and found mentors who shaped his leadership journey. He always dreamed of attending OSU, but a visit with college ambassadors confirmed the Ferguson College was the right fit. Davin is double-majoring in agribusiness and agricultural communications and values the many opportunities the Ferguson College provides to explore passions and connect with students from across the country.

Katelyn Bullock
West River, Maryland

Katelyn Bullock chose Oklahoma State for the Ferguson College of Agriculture’s balance of land-grant resources and small-town community. As an active FFA member, she found purpose in service, whether through speech competitions or helping communities recover after natural disasters. Now majoring in agricultural education, Katelyn prepares to follow in her mother’s footsteps as an ag teacher while staying involved on campus through Collegiate Farm Bureau, the Food Science Club and OSU’s sailing team.

Parker Cowan
Watertown, Tennessee 

Representing Tennessee at the National Land and Soil Evaluation Contest first brought Parker Cowan to OSU, where he quickly connected with the Ferguson College of Agriculture’s welcoming community. Parker was an active FFA competitor in land judging, livestock and meat evaluation, and built teamwork and communication skills that prepared him for college. An animal science major and McKnight Scholar, he is active in Block and Bridle, Swine Club and Aggie-X as he prepares for a career in veterinary medicine.

Kale Cox
Petrolia, Texas

From competing in ag mechanics shows and land judging, Kale Cox credits FFA with helping him build leadership skills and connect with others. A biosystems engineering major, Kale is exploring career opportunities in ag engineering while staying involved in the OSU Chapter of American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers and Cowboy Motorsports.

Ethan Drake
Mountain Grove, Missouri

Ethan Drake’s FFA experience in public speaking, livestock judging and showing livestock inspired his path toward agricultural education. He selected OSU for its nationally recognized agricultural education program. Now active in Collegiate FFA and multiple Ferguson organizations, Ethan hopes to pursue graduate studies and continue shaping future generations of agriculturalists.

Morgan Fury
Texico, New Mexico

When she toured the Ferguson College of Agriculture, Morgan Fury knew OSU was the right fit. Her FFA background of competing on state-winning teams and serving as a chapter officer taught her confidence, teamwork and perseverance. An animal science major, Morgan is active in the Oklahoma Collegiate Cattlemen’s Association as she prepares for pharmacy school while continuing her family’s legacy in agriculture.

Taylor Groat
Gilbert, Arizona

Serving as Arizona FFA State Vice President allowed Taylor Groat to travel, lead workshops, and connect with students and industry leaders across her state. Those experiences sparked her interest in agricultural communications, and she chose OSU for the reputation of the Ferguson College of Agriculture and its welcoming environment. Taylor serves as a Career Liaison, mentoring other students and building skills that will prepare her for a future career in agricultural marketing.

Amara Jackson
Corunna, Michigan

A former National FFA Officer, Amara Jackson, built confidence in leadership and public speaking that continues to shape her future. Inspired by the strength of the Ferguson College of Agriculture, she chose OSU and quickly found ways to get involved in the McKnight Scholars Leadership Program and Ferguson College Ambassador Team. Majoring in agribusiness, Amara plans to attend law school and pursue a career in succession and estate planning, prepared with the skills and community she has gained at OSU.

Dyllan Lopez
Le Grand, California

Through FFA, Dyllan Lopez discovered his passion for leadership, serving as chapter president and attending state and national conferences. When he visited OSU, he was impressed by the welcoming community of the Ferguson College of Agriculture. Now an agricultural education major, he hopes to inspire future students just as his ag teachers inspired him.

Alexander Nuñez
Afton, Oklahoma

A state-winning FFA member in agronomy and a competitor in multiple speaking and leadership events, Alexander Nuñez says FFA taught him professionalism, responsibility and perseverance. He enrolled at OSU as part of the early admission program into OSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine, which solidified his path toward becoming a veterinarian. Now majoring in agribusiness, Alexander is involved in the Pre-Veterinary Club, Swine Club and Collegiate Farm Bureau.

Olivia Rooker
Bend, Oregon

Olivia Rooker’s FFA experiences, including her tenure as chapter president and state officer, sparked her passion for agriculture and leadership. She chose Oklahoma State for its award-winning agricultural communications program and the hands-on opportunities it offered. With support from college faculty, Olivia has completed multiple internships that build on the skills she is learning through her coursework.

Hudson Squires
Hobart, Oklahoma

Hudson Squires was involved in FFA events ranging from livestock to public speaking. He credits FFA with teaching him responsibility, time management and the value of hard work, which have transferred directly to his college experience. Hudson is majoring in agribusiness with a minor in agronomy and plans to return to his family's farm and eventually run his own agricultural company. He said his classes have given him the real-world knowledge needed to succeed in his plans.

Ella Underberg
Springville, New York

As a former New York FFA State President, Ella Underberg wanted to attend a college that valued leadership and community. She first visited OSU during an FFA training and immediately felt at home in the Ferguson College. Now an agricultural leadership major, Ella says the “Cowboy Family” has given her a strong foundation to pursue a future in public service.

Callen Veit
Morrison, Oklahoma

Growing up near Stillwater, Callen Veit saw firsthand the impact of OSU and the Ferguson College of Agriculture on his community. As an active FFA member in chapter leadership, agriscience research and public speaking, he developed skills in leadership and communication that now guide his college journey. Majoring in agribusiness, Callen is involved in Ferguson College Student Council and the OSU President’s Leadership Council as he prepares for law school and a career serving rural communities.

Hands-on Experience

Just like FFA, we believe in the idea of learning to do and doing to learn. We strive to provide a hands-on education and well-rounded experience for each of our students through experience in our classrooms and labs. The college is also home to 15+ learning units on more than 13,000 acres, including multiple animal facilities.
